Is a shuttle cheaper than Uber from Houston to Galveston?

A question from the Galveston cruiser community.

Trying to decide between a shuttle and just taking an Uber down. Which is cheaper?

For a 70-mile run from IAH, or 40 from Hobby, rideshare fares move with demand and can rise on cruise weekends, and not every driver wants a long one-way trip. A shared shuttle is a fixed $39 a seat with a protected booking, which is usually cheaper and more predictable for one or two people. For a larger group, compare a private option too.

Uber quoted me $140 with surge on a Saturday morning. Not again.
